Shot List

We made a shot list so that when we were on set we knew what were doing with the shots and angles

Planning

Risk Assessment

Our group made a risk assessment to make sure that nobody was harmed during filming and this made sure we did things in a proper way and insured everyone was safe on set.

Cast and Characters

Will - Eugene - Eugene is the main character who is being chased by the two bad guys in the opening. For costume he will be wearing a grey blazer, black trousers, aviator style glasses and a western style hat. The hat and glasses both raise enigma about the character while the suit shows that he is professional in what he works as

Kain - Clyde - The professional of the two bad guys, takes his job very seriously and gets annoyed with the second bad guy. For costume he will be wearing a smart/casual black jacket and black trousers along with black gloves. All of this shows he is a hardened criminal appearance

George - Dave - The 'idiot' of the two bad guys who is not any good at his job and annoys the first bad guy a lot. For costume he will be wearing is a smart coat and black jeans, trying to copy the professional bad guy.

Storyboard

The first shot we are going to have in the opening is a panning up shot of our Main character, Will, tied to a chair and struggling slightly. The lighting will be low key to raise enigma to where the character is. The reasoning for him being tied to a chair will also raise enigma. The shot will be about 5 seconds long.

The second shot we intend to have will be an over the shoulder shot of the main character being slapped by the professional bad guy. We have debated about this shot type and may change it on the day depending on how filming looks. It will last about 3-6 seconds including a small piece of dialogue.

The panning shot will simply be a panning shot to slightly set the scene for where this is taking place, inside a abandoned building. We are going to film two versions of it, one starring the professional bad guy walking away from the main character. This shot will also be low key, showing it is still inside the same building.

The next shot will be a mid shot/two shot of the professional bad guy and the imbecile bad guy stood next to each other. This may turn into just the imbecile bad guy as the previous shot could just become the professional bad guy by himself, so it would show him walking towards the imbecile. The lighting in this part will be slightly brighter than the rest, to slightly show that this bad guy is almost the comic relief.

The next shot will be a shot of the room where the main character was tied up, except now he is gone. This just explains the next scene of the guy running away while still tied to a chair. The shot wont last very long and we may continue it with a shot of one of the bad guys exclaiming “He's Gone!”

The shot afterwards will be a extreme long shot of the main character running through a field while tied to the chair. The fact he is running through a field shows that he is in the middle of nowhere.

The next scene will be a montage with fast cuts, it will be the two bad guys loading their guns and preparing to chase the main character, the majority of these shots will be low key lighting, to show that they are still inside the building, and last no more than a few seconds.

The shot afterwards will be a long shot of the main character running again, however when he gets closes to the camera, he falls down.

The next shot will be a close up, with the main character ripping the tape off his mouth and throwing the ropes down. The fact he has escaped shows that he is good at what he is doing as well as the fact it raises enigma as how he managed to escape from the chair.

The next shot will be a long shot of the beginning of the chase, with the two bad guys seeing the main character and chasing him through a field.

Afterwards there will be another montage, of the chase this time, we have mostly planned out the montage but will most likely come up with more ideas on the day when we see the place where we are filming.

The next shot will be the professional bad guy watching the main character as he runs away. Still outside.

The next shots involve the use of the zip wire at the park in Osgodby. It is a kids zip wire but we are going to film it like it is not that, from low angles, making it look actiony.

We chose not to include the entirety of this scene as it did not come together as we anticipated.
This is the scene where the audience see that it is a small zip wire, we may film it with the children’s park in the background to make it even more obvious that it is a kids zip wire.

The next shot is a two shot of the bad guys looking at each other confused after looking at the main character. We chose not to include the entirety of this scene as it did not come together as we anticipated.

We will then have a tracking mid shot of the main character running away from the camera, before a tracking shot of the professional bad guy running towards the camera.

Afterwards there will be an over the should shot as the main character turns and looks at the two bad guys, we may not involve the imbecile bad guy in this scene to make it more seriously. We chose not to include the entirety of this scene as it did not come together as we anticipated.

We will then include a long shot/panning shot of the standoff, before the professional bad guy starts saying threats to the main character. These shots will most likely be high key lighting, depending on the weather. We have two different places where we could shoot this scene, so we will shoot at both places and decide in editing which one is the best.

Target Audience Research

Our groups genre is Action/Comedy which has some of the most popular interest within a representative sample in Great Britain. We chose a Action/Comedy film as it's Comedy part has the most percentage that enjoy watching them. On the Page where the % of people enjoy watching genres it tells us that as Comedy is our main genre and Action with a lower but still a high percentage of people that enjoy watching them is our sub genre. Comedy has the highest percentage of people enjoying it at 64% while Action is 5 genres down from that at 50% of people. This should still mean that we secure the target audiences which are both mainstream audiences.

Although both genres, Action and Comedy have mainstream audiences our group are going to aim our target audience at Females 15-35 years old as they are the highest for that gender and genre and on the other hand Males 15-35 years old for the action side as this will aim towards our mainstream audiences. This will also give us large demographic to target at with our audiences. Every social class is included in both of our genres which will also secure us in a more larger target audience meaning that Males and Females age 15-35 years old will be targeted and also each social class will also.

Comedy is seen as the most viewed genre in cinema even more securing the potion of a larger target audience to work with meaning that it spreads throughout a large type of people in their social, genre specifics and gender.

On the page where over 16s rate their favorite genre, around 30% of the public rate Comedy as their favorite and around 20% rate Action as their favorite genre. This tells us that we have around 50% of the public audience aimed at as our target audience. This means that we would have a very high interest in the film as around half of people have Action or Comedy as their favorite genre.

Film Opening Conventions

Genre and Group

Our group

I am in a group with Kain Stones, Bex Scuffham and George Griffiths. I'm in this group because i think we all get on well working together and i think it should make us a good team filming.

Our genre

The genre we have chosen in our group is action/comedy hybrid genre. We wanted to do this as it will different from other openings as it is a unusual genre. this will give us a challenge and put us away from the easier options like horrors or thrillers which will make us have a original idea.
